Alex Rodriguez has had a legendary MLB career. He played for over two decades, making his appearances for teams like the New York Yankees and the Seattle with whom he won everything. But despite having an illustrious career, the ex-Yankee has an unlikable chapter in his baseball career, which is a two-year ban. Notably, MLB banned Rodriguez, holding him guilty of using performance-enhancing drugs.

The ban cost a lot, as A-rod lost two precious years of his playing career. Rodriguez has always been open about his mistakes and has shared the lessons from the same time and again. Recently, the MLB legend shed light on using PEDs, even after knowing the consequences.

Rodriguez recalled his decision to use PEDs. He called it a big mistake and a dumb decision that cost him two years of his playing career. A user posted a clip on Instagram where he answered the question, ” Why I took steroids?”

A-rod said, “It was a really silly, dumb decision. The most important thing that I think about my baseball career is what happened at the very start when I was 19 and what happened at the very end in my last season at 19, I came second in the MVP to Juan Gonzalez, and I was just a skinny lad, hit 358 and won a batting title.”

Rodriguez compared his performances even after injuries. Sharing his achievements, he answered the question, why was there no need for him to use those banned substances? “So, Harry, to your point, I don’t need any of that stuff because at 19 and 41, I had two of my best seasons. Completely clean and in a great frame of mind, makes you go, boy. Why was it? What? What a knucklehead.”

Barring the ban, Rodriguez had an illustrious MLB career!

He made his MLB debut with the Seattle Mariners on July 8, 1994, becoming only the third player in the past century and the first of that decade to make an MLB debut at 18. He then went on to play over 2784 games.

Rodriguez scored 2021 runs at an average of 0.295 and had 2086 RBIs during this period. He also claimed 696 home runs to put himself fifth on the all-time homer run scorers list in MLB history. Rodriguez announced his MLB retirement in 2016. The PED ban hamper Rodriguez’s career a bit. Still, he finished as one of the MLB greats of modern times.
