And it was none other than the Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner, who broke this news to his star outfielder. The Yankees owner managed to sway Judge from any $350 million, nine-year San Francisco offers.

After Derek Jeter’s retirement in 2014, Aaron Judge officially became the New York Yankees leader. In his induction ceremony last evening, he spoke about how Steinbrenner broke the news to him after pitching the legacy of New York. Judge said, “It was 3 AM in California. I was on the phone with Hal, and he explained how important that honor is to the organization. He presented it to me, and I was at a loss for words.
