‘It’s Over, It’s Beyond’ – Hall of Famer Derek Jeter Recently Talked About His Relationship With Friend-Turned-Foe Former Teammate Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez

Over the years, Derek Jeter has dominated the headlines due to his impressive performances in the ballpark. And while Jeter’s amazing performances are always a topic of conversation, his relationship with, Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez is something that also intrigues fans very much.

During their initial years in MLB, Jeter and Rodriguez became great friends. However, despite building a strong bond at first, problems started arising, and slowly, from friends, they became rivals.

More than 20 years have passed, and it is one of the things that people still want to know more about. Jeter has talked about his friendship with ‘A-Rod’ in his documentary and was recently asked about it once again during a podcast.

What did Derek Jeter say about Alex Rodriguez?

Many things were said in the media about Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter’s ruined friendship. Talking about Rodriguez and reminiscing about what happened back then, Jeter said that a lot of time had passed and the situation is different now.

“This is 20 years ago, pretty much you know, That’s why in the documentary, I wanted the people to know how I felt at the time. Now a lot of things in life have happened since. It’s over, it’s beyond. I don’t feel that way anymore. But at that time, how I felt was, I’m extremely loyal. I wouldn’t do it to a friend,” said Jeter.

As Jeter pointed out, a lot of time has passed and what he feels about the incident now is different than what he felt all those years ago.

What ruined Jeter and Alex’s relationship?

In December 2000, Alex signed a $252 million contract with the Texas Rangers. It was the largest contract in history at that time.

After signing that contract, in one of the interviews, Alex was asked about the baseball player who might or could break his record of the largest contract. Rodriguez had replied that it could be anyone but the shortstop Derek Jeter. This was the start of a feud that ended their friendship back in 2000.

But, as Jeter mentioned in the podcast, things are now better between them.
