MLB great Derek Jeter played marvelously in his entire two-decade career in the big league. After fulfilling his dream of playing baseball for the New York Yankees, captain clutch decided to bid farewell and went on to the next chapter of his life. During his career, he dated several women but did not settle down with anyone. Therefore, after retiring, Jeter focused on building a family. 

A year after retiring, in 2015, he proposed to the supermodel Hannah Davis (now Jeter). They got married a year later, and in 2017, the couple announced their pregnancy. Notably, congratulations advice started pouring in for the couple and the entire Jeter family. Among the many pieces of advice they got, the one that stood out was from Jeter’s former teammate and ex-Boston Red Sox star, Johnny Damon.

Derek Jeter was getting advice from a professional

Being a parent is one of the most challenging jobs in the whole world. It’s a responsibility that requires patience, courage, and many other qualities. Therefore, taking advice from a parent is undoubtedly a good thing. But getting advice from a parent with eight kids is not short of a professional. The two times World Series champion, Johnny Damon, is that professional.

Damon gave some critical expert advice in a The Player’s Tribune video to congratulate Derek and Hannah Jeter on welcoming their first child. Laid back in his chair, playfully roasting, Damon said, “Bro, you gotta catch up to me. I have eight so… I know what I’m doing.”

The former athlete certainly knew what he was doing. Being a parent to one kid is tough enough, but being a parent to eight is even more challenging. However, it is still unclear if Jeter took that advice from Damon. 

The former athlete also gave some advice on the baby’s name!

Aside from the parenting advice, Derek and Hannah’s close friends also came up with suggestions for their girl’s name. Undoubtedly, Johnny Damon was one of them. He said, “Maybe ones that go like “JJ” or something, like so… Jasmine Jeter? Jasmina…”
