Sometimes, it is the push that you need to become the best at what you do. The former captain of the New York Yankees and the baseball legend, Derek Jeter, believes that it was the New York City who pushed him to be as great as he was during his 19-year tenure on the team.

The Hall of Famer joined Alex Rodriguez and Michael Kay on KayRod Cast. They talked about the fiercest rivalry of all time in Major League Baseball, Yankees v/s Red Sox, among other things.

Michael asked Jeter, how he would have played or what he would have done if he was on another team like the Kansas City Royals.

How did New York City push Derek Jeter?

Ray asked the Captain if his stats would remain the same had he played in some other team and did New York needed him or if he needed New York.

Replying to this, Jeter said“I think so. I think the expectation level here in New York is different than anywhere else. Fans push you. They push you on a daily basis. They pay attention, so New York pushes you. I’d like to think I’d be the same player regardless of where I was, but I think New York brought up the best in me.”

No matter the team, the shortstop would have still played splendidly as he did for the New York Yankees.

But in the way New York pushed him, no other city could have.

What else did the three talk about?

The topics of the KayRod cast included the fiercest rivalry of all time. And also the recent suspension of Fernando Tatis Jr. He got suspended from Major League Baseball for 80 games because he tested positive for taking performance-enhancing drugs.
