28-year-old Shohei Ohtani has taken the MLB world by storm ever since he won the American League MVP in 2021, and almost won it in 2022. Now, prior to another prospective MVP aimed season for the two-way sensation, Ohtani received a special gift from a $4.8 billion worth fashion shark.

Amongst the multiple brands that Shohei Ohtani is endorsing presently, Hugo Boss and the two-way Angels star go back to 2021. Most recently, prior to his way to his homeland, Boss delivered a special gift for the Los Angeles Angels’ sensation.

A special jacket for Shohei Ohtani

Shohei Ohtani reached his Instagram with a picture of the jacket displaying his jersey number “16” on one arm. The backside of the jersey displayed the WBC sign, along with the BOSS logo, and “Japan” written under it.

He also uploaded a post on his Instagram thanking Boss for the jacket, with the caption, “See you in Nagoya.”

The most notable reaction to his Instagram upload was by teammate Patrick Sandoval, who commented on Ohtani’s glove, which was hung on his backpack. He said, “Glove on backpack gotta let ‘em know.”

In addition to that, the official Instagram handle of WBC commented with the eyes emoji expressing excitement for Ohtani to arrive.

Why did the two-way wonder go back home in the middle of spring training?

After a solid start to spring training in 2023, as planned, Shohei Ohtani departed to fulfill his national duties and represent Japan in the World Baseball Classic. Prior to his departure, Ohtani spoke through an interpreter about how he achieved his main goal of Spring Training and tried to accustom himself to the pitch clock. He said, “My main goal today was to feel out all my pitches, and I was able to accomplish that.” 

Moreover, Ohtani expressed his excitement about the upcoming WBC, and said, “I don’t know when I’m pitching yet but I am excited. I’ll find out how excited I really am when I get there, especially because I wasn’t able to play in the last one due to injury.”
