“Should’ve Been Illegal, But it Wasn’t”- Aaron Judge’s 2,000-Strong Hometown Failed to Match Monstrous Physique According to His Football Coach

Aaron Judge is one of the biggest stars in baseball today. As a rookie in 2017, he quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with. Since then, he has cemented his place among MLB’s top stars and as a centerpiece for the New York Yankees. Furthermore, he has also gained a reputation for his straightforward attitude toward the game and desire to win. 

Judge has dominated opposing MLB players ever since being drafted, something he did even in high school. A coach of his from high school once opened up on a trait that allowed him to dominate.

Aaron Judge has become well known for his tall stature and the powerful swing his body gives him. But many may not know that he used that height to dominate opponents in high school football. In 2017, Mark Miller, Judge’s football coach at Linden High School, opened up on how his height was unfair.

Per The Mercury News, Miller said, “He was 6-foot-6 and playing wide receiver. The other team would have some little 5-foot-nuthin’ cornerback trying to guard him. It should have been illegal, but it wasn’t.” In Linden, Judge’s height was a rarity, the total population of the small town being around 1800 strong. Furthermore, his height is a rarity in baseball in general.

When Judge won the 2022 AL MVP award, he became the tallest MVP in MLB history. Furthermore, he hasn’t allowed his height to become a disadvantage when fielding. In fact, Judge has shown an agility never seen before for a player his size. This tall stature may even help Judge in the new role he has been given.

Aaron Judge was recently named the newest captain of the New York Yankees. Although he has always shown a tendency to lead the team, actually performing the role will be a different ballgame. His 6’7” frame may help him exude the aura of a leader and generally feel more confident as captain.

But his tenure seems to have gotten off to a good start so far. He was recently spotted interacting with some of the Yankee’s young prospects and generally looked like a captain.
