The Japanese two-way phenom and the biggest free agent in the league is now the MVP 2023 as well! With his second AL MVP award in three years, Shohei Ohtani looms over the league. So total was his domination with the ball and the bat that his win was beyond obvious. As the cherry on top, it was his second unanimous win.

With this victory, the biggest free agent in the world has created a historical record. Shohei Ohtani is the first person to win two MVP awards unanimously. His season was nothing short of incredible with the slugger dominating the diamond in a way never seen before. Ohtani hit 44 home runs, a huge number for a player who was injured for much of the last parts of the season and the most in the AL. Overall his numbers were almost the same as the other two finalists even after them playing more games than him.

But it was his pitching that turned 2023 into an elite season for him. Ohtani recorded 167 strikeouts and had an ERA of 3.14. Never before has the baseball world seen such two-way domination since the heydays of Babe Ruth. But even then Shotime’s equal proficiency with the bat and ball is unmatched. Now with the MVP award done, Ohtani’s focus will completely shift to his free agency. Quite a few teams are waiting to see the MVP in their jersey colors.
