Israel Adesanya is undoubtedly one of the best fighters in the UFC today. ‘The Last Stylebender’ proved his championship-caliber when he dismantled an undefeated star in Paulo Costa at UFC 253. Following his fight, there has been a lot of back and forth with former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
There were speculations that the two would fight. However, they were far apart in weight classes. However, it appears Adesanya is on course to move up in weight after confirmation by UFC President Dana White.

White continued, “And Whittaker comes out and says he does not want to fight him. Craziest shit I’ve ever seen. So, there is not arguing with Israel now. I thought Whittaker deserved the shot. But Whittaker does not want it so, we’ll let him do it”
Following his win against ‘Borrachinha’, Israel Adesanya had stated that he would like to face Jared Cannonier next. That was contingent on him getting a dominant win over ‘The Reaper’. However, the champ was open to a rematch with Whittaker as well.

‘The Reaper’ however, has displayed no urgency in getting a rematch with Israel Adesanya saying a title fight is ‘inevitable’. This has paved way for ‘Izzy’s’ move up to light heavyweight.
Though the fight has not been confirmed yet, Adesanya stands a chance of joining an exclusive list of fighters to win belts in two divisions. A potential fight against Jan Blachowicz would be probably the biggest test of his career so far given the form that the new light-heavyweight champion is in.
