Dana White Says Food Poisoning and Weight Cut Affected Deiveson Figueiredo’s Performance

32-year-old Deiveson Figueiredo is one of the most significant fighters in the UFC, dominating the flyweight roster. With a record of 20-1-1, te Brazilian star is undoubtedly the best flyweight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. While on a five-match win streak, the fighter faced Brandon Moreno in a five-round scrap for the flyweight gold at UFC 256.
While both the fighters put up an amazing fight at the event, the match ended in a draw. ‘Deus da Guerra’ was transported to the hospital post-fight because of unfavorable health conditions caused by weight cuts. The UFC president Dana White hinted at this past situation in a recent interview.
During a conversation with TSN, White said, “That’s a very good point too, but on the flip side Figueiredo had to cut weight twice really, really close you know and I think that affected him in that first fight too so we will see how this thing plays out but either way that’s gonna be a Bad A** Fight!”

After being asked about the health complications faced by the fighter post-t fight White continued, “Yeah he (Figueiredo) did have food poisoning.”

Ongoing health problems did not stop Figueiredo from facing Moreno at UFC 256. Both men agreed to enter the cage just 21 days after their previous fight. They displayed an amazing performance at the event. This match ended the Brazilian’s five-win streak landing him the first draw of his UFC career. Considering the health problem Figueiredo was facing and still surviving all five rounds made the match more impressive.
