The UFC wraps up a stellar year of action with its last PPV in December. UFC 269 features not one but two title fights. Charles Oliveira and Amanda Nunes put their respective belts on the line against Dustin Poirier and Julianna Pena, respectively. The fight card also featured a highly anticipated grudge match between Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards.

Unfortunately, Masvidal had to pull out of the fight due to an undisclosed injury.

In a recent interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Leon Edwards shared his thoughts on Jorge Masvidal pulling out of the fight. He said, “I always felt he was a fake, he’s a fraud. I knew this going into the fight that he’s a fake. He had like a good year, year and a half that he had the [Darren] Till knockout, the Ben Askren knockout, and that kind of propelled him.”

Rocky’ continued, “But apart from that, he’s nothing but a journeyman. Every time he fights, more than likely he’s probably gonna lose. My opinion hasn’t changed much. I knew what I knew and now the fans are getting to see it. Now it’s clear as day that he’s not who he pretends to be.”

The UFC has tried to schedule a fight between Chimaev and Edwards thrice now. Unfortunately, the fight fell through all three times. However, now that Chimaev is back and active, re-booking the fight would make a lot of sense.

‘Borz’ got out of the fight against Jingliang unscathed. He stated that he would like to fight again before the year ends. A fight against ‘Rocky’ would be the perfect fight for him to legitimize himself at welterweight. Similarly, a win for Edwards over Chimaev would propel his stock in the UFC and also guarantee him a title shot against Kamaru Usman, something that he has been aiming at for a long time.
