UFC welterweight veteran Nate Diaz has responded to Gilbert Burns after the latter accused him of running away from a potential fight. The Stockton native made his long-awaited return against Leon Edwards at UFC 263.
‘Durinho’ is chasing Diaz for a while now. He is eyeing a match with the Stockton native at Madison Square Garden. This clearly shows he wants to fight him at UFC 268, the proposed event for the welterweight title fight between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.
Burns, who fought for the title at UFC 258, wrote on Twitter, “Hey guys, when I was fighting @NateDiaz209 was running his mouth. Now I’m free, and he is free, he is running away.@NateDiaz209 let’s fight at MSG for 5 rounds. Loser has to pay the winner extra $200K. Niteroi RJ vs Stockton CA.”

Burns was talking about his match with Stephen Thompson at UFC 264. Diaz had tweeted back then and had asked to fight a guy who uses KOs. Burns clearly thought he was referencing him and thus had lashed out at him on the same.
In the match against a striking specialist like Thompson, ‘Burns’ performance was heavily criticized as he won the fight by a canvas grind.
That’s what I thought @NateDiaz209 you don’t want no smoke! So don’t say my name anymore bitch ass fake gangster! So many losses you have already! And your teammates that I already beat knows what I would do to you! Keep playing smart and save https://t.co/Rfazhhl9QQ

Diaz, though, replied the Brazilian recently and even said he could fight him in a bathroom. The fan-favorite wrote, “Nah. I’ll fight you in a bathroom somewhere b*tch. How about that burnt.” A fan shared the screenshot of the tweet as Diaz deleted this later.

Well, the Twitter war doesn’t seem to end so soon. Ever since his win over Thompson, Burns has called out many fighters and Diaz is one of them.
How Gilbert Burns and Nate Diaz will enter the fight if booked?
Burns (20-4) enjoyed a winning spree of 6 fights before getting downed eventually by Usman at UFC 258. With a win over ‘Wonderboy’, he has re-entered the title fight scene and would consider himself one or two fights away from another shot at gold.

Diaz (20-13), as mentioned, returned after a 2-year hiatus against Edwards. For most of the match, ‘Rocky’ dominated him but Diaz gave him a scare in round 5 when his left punch almost brought an end to the match.
