Justin Gaethje came into the UFC as the WSOF lightweight champion. Having defended his belt multiple times, there was a lot of hype surrounding Gaethje. He delivered on all that hype and much more as he put on a fight of the year performance against Michael Johnson and stopped him in round two.
Following the win, Gaethje succumbed to back-to-back losses against the likes of Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier before going on a four-fight win streak, obliterating everyone in his path. During his time with the UFC, Gaethje has put on one power-packed performance after another. And thankfully for the fans, Gaethje will be around for a lot longer as he confirms he has signed a contract extension with the UFC.
‘The Highlight’ continued, “I wish I was able to be really proud of my accomplishment of securing my future in these four to six fights. But ultimately that is not the case. I gotta go out and prove myself every fight. That is what every single one of us has to do. Name of the game, I enjoy it, I am a showoff. I am a performer. It is also why you can earn more money by being a performer. That’s why I am getting paid more than most guys in the history of the sport.”
