‘I’m Pulling For Leon Edwards’- Gilbert Burns Excited For Leon Edwards To Beat Nate Diaz

Leon Edwards is getting back into the Octagon quickly after his botched return last month against Belal Muhammad. Edwards accepted Muhammad a short-notice replacement for Khamzat Chimaev and looked great in the cage. However, an accidental eye poke meant that the contest was ruled as a no-contest.
Instead of rematching Muhammad, Edwards is getting the biggest fight of his career against Nate Diaz. The Welterweight division is taking notice, including former title contender Gilbert Burns, who Edwards was scheduled to face last year. He picked Leon to win the fight and explained why he is rooting for him.

“Yeah, a bad matchup for him. Leon is going to beat him up pretty easy and it’s going to be good for Leon. You know, to be honest with that one, I’m pulling for Leon Edwards. The guy is just having bad luck after bad luck. First, the lockdown. Then fighting gets canceled, fighting gets canceled. Now the eye poke. I hope nothing goes wrong and he comes to that fight. I believe he’s going to make big name of him with a big win against Nate Diaz. So I want Leon to do good on that one.”

Leon Edwards: Is this going to be an easy win?
No win in the UFC comes easily. However, many do think Leon Edwards should be favored heavily against Nate Diaz. But can anyone be blamed for that? Edwards is on an eight-fight win streak and Diaz is coming off a loss. Along with that, his inactivity makes his return to the Octagon hard to judge.
But it unquestioned that Edwards has the more rounded skill-set at the time. He can win the fight in any facet, but so can Diaz. Despite his unflattering record, Diaz is easily one of the hardest opponents that anyone can take on. The same can be said for Edwards, so maybe this is the perfect matchup.
