Max Holloway Calls Out Daniel Cormier for a ‘Superheavyweight’ Match-Up

Max Holloway will aim to become a two-time featherweight champion of the world. He starts his journey back to the top when he takes on Calvin Kattar on UFC Fight Island next week. Holloway is without a doubt the greatest featherweight fighter in the history of the UFC. ‘Blessed’ has a CV like no other.

The likable Hawaiian fighter is also extremely good friends with Daniel Cormier (another likable fighter), who he calls out after almost every fight of his. ‘The Daddest Man on the Planet’ as Max Holloway calls him is close friends with the former featherweight champion and someone who Max looks up to as a fighter.

Daniel Cormier lost a title fight against Jon Jones at UFC 182. He then bounced back to secure the light heavyweight championship and defended it multiple times as well.

In a recent interview, Kevin Iole of Yahoo sports asked Max Holloway if he draws inspiration from what ‘DC’ was able to do.

‘Blessed’ said, “Ah for sure, for sure. ‘DC’ is a big help I call him out all the time about being the daddest man on the planet…. We can fight at super heavyweight DC, Daddest man on the planet I own that belt. But all jokes aside, that guy is a big help you know?”

The former champion continued, “He calls me here and there to check in just to talk about stuff, talk about life, talk about the way I approach fights. I got to talk to him a little bit during this camp here and there and he talks to me about approaching, his mindset and these are the kinds of things to think of. It’s super cool that I got someone like that on my side, you know? That’s been there, done that, and I get to learn through him.”

Holloway is only 29 and has a lot of time left in the sport. Though his second loss to Volkanovski was tough, ‘Blessed’ now has the chance to prove that he is still the best in the division by defeating the up-and-coming Kattar.
