Miesha Tate Teases a Return to The Sport With Recent Instagram Post

Miesha Tate is one of the pioneers of women’s MMA. ‘Cupcake’ along with the likes of Ronda Rousey were amongst the first female fighters and champions in the UFC. They set the bar incredibly high for women’s MMA in the UFC and inspired many women to follow them into the sport. Without the likes of Rousey and Tate, women’s MMA would not have been where it is today.

Cupcake’ made her debut in the UFC 2013. She faced some of the best female fighters to have ever stepped in the octagon and realized her ultimate dream when she became the champion at UFC 196 by beating Holly Holm.

Miesha Tate hints at a return to the active MMA

Tate took to Instagram to share a picture with the caption, “Guess who took these Photos? I’ll give you a hint, tonight was my first practice back at @xcmma”

Tate lost her title at UFC 200 to Amanda Nunes who still reigns supreme. After her loss to Nunes, she took on Raquel Pennington at UFC 205 and lost the fight via unanimous decision. After her loss, she announced her retirement from the UFC.

However, ‘Cupcake’ has not been far away from the sport. Shortly after retiring, she was hired as VP for ONE championship as a brand ambassador and has been residing in Singapore along with her family. 

However, it seems as though the itch for the competition will now see ‘Cupcake’ back in action. It is not known at this point if she will return for sure and if she does where she will fight.

Tate has been competing in the bantamweight division since her first fight as a professional therefore if she returns it will most likely be at the same weight class. However, a return to the UFC does not seem likely for the former champion at this point in time.
