Nina Ansaroff And Amanda Nunes Explain the Importance of Representing the LGBTQ Community

UFC dual division champion Amanda Nunes and her partner Nina Nunes are one of the famous couples who have openly accepted being part of the LGBTQ+ community.

Hailed as the greatest women’s MMA fighter of all time, Nunes is a brave character both in the ring and as well as outside of it. She, along with her partner Nina Ansaroff, are also proud parents to a daughter born in September last year.

In a recent interview given to ESPN, both discussed the importance of representing their community and also helping those people who are in need.

“You know honestly,” Nina said. “I think it’s great because we get a lot of messages from people that are struggling. My perspective is that a lot of people who are homophobic or they don’t how to act around…they need a couple that can change their mind about everything.

She added, “I feel like if we can do that for a little boy or little girl struggling with their parent, don’t know how to accept it, we are so down to help it.”

Amanda, too, had something to say as she added some of her experience from her childhood. “Don’t hesitate to reach out. I feel like we can help it for sure. I have been there before… I know how odd it is to live that.

“And sometimes have to like a hi, say you like a boy in class, just to feel in that group. I know all these things because it affected me you know. So I really was never interested to date a guy, you know,” she further added.

What’s next for Amanda Nunes?

‘The Lioness’ is gearing up to face Julianna Pena at UFC 265. It will be her second match in five months as she successfully defended her featherweight crown against Megan Anderson at UFC 259. Nunes has been undefeated across the bantamweight and featherweight divisions in her last 12 matches.

Pena, on the other hand, has been blowing hot and cold in her last few matches. She has scored 2 wins and as many losses in her last 4 fights. Her last fight ended with a victory over Sara McMann at UFC 257.

It’s highly likely that Nunes would still be the champion after UFC 265. Pena would need to compete at her best to even stand stand stand a chance against ‘The Lioness’.
