Trilogies in combat sports are always an exciting affair. There are no secrets going into a third fight, both men involved in such an event, as well as the fans, have a fair idea of what each fighter brings to the table which makes a trilogy all the more exciting and unpredictable. This was also the case for the trilogy between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder that wrapped up a few hours back.
Long-time UFC commentator and combat sports fanatic Joe Rogan took to Instagram to share his thoughts on an epic fight between two behemoths.

He said, “All hail the @gypsyking101! One of the greatest heavyweight fights of all time. Incredible.” With a win over Wilder, Fury has not only maintained his unbeaten record, he has also firmly established himself as the best heavyweight in the world at the moment.

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3- a look back at an epic fight
The third fight between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury at one point seemed out of the question. Fury announced on his social media channels that a fight between him and Anthony Joshua was finalized to take place in Saudi Arabia. However, at the 11th hour, an arbitrator ruled in favor of Wilder and stated that Fury needed to award him his trilogy fight.

The bout was initially scheduled for July 24th. Unfortunately, it had to be pushed back to October 9th as Fury tested positive for COVID-19. There was a lot of talk between the two men going into the fight. Both ‘The Gypsy King’ and ‘The Bronze Bomber’ promised that the fight would not go the distance.
It was Fury who secured the first knockdown of the fight in round three. Wilder bounced back and secured two knockdowns of his own in the very next round. Fury got back up to his feet and from then on dominated every single round. He eventually secured a finish in the 11th round after having hurt Wilder severely multiple times in the rounds prior.

With the win, Tyson Fury has closed the chapter in arguably one of the greatest trilogies in the sport of boxing irrespective of weight classes.
