Tyron Woodley Reveals Why Conor McGregor Was Upset With Him Leading Up to UFC 205

Former UFC champions Conor McGregor and Tyron Woodley have currently hit a roadblock when we consider their recent in-ring winning record. But there was a time when they ruled their respective roster and were champions.

A champion fighting another champion isn’t a new thing now and we could have witnessed a clash between ‘The Chosen One’ and ‘The Notorious’ if everything would have fallen into place at that time.

It all started during the media day questionnaire prior to UFC 205. Conor was fighting Alvarez to become a double champion, whereas Woodley and Stephen Thompson would have rumbled in the co-main event.

Everything started when Conor answered he would target all the belts. Woodley then replied to him with a taunt and said the welterweight division has different power levels compared to his division. This escalated into a full-fledged Twitter war later with both trading verbal blows.

In a recent episode with Submission Radio, the former welterweight champion discussed what exactly made instigated McGregor with him.

“Conor was never angry towards me besides being upset that I videotaped him,” Woodley said. “I videotaped coming him looking like Cruella de Ville from 101 Dalmatians with a Gucci tag on his jacket.”

Woodley then said no one could stop him if he wanted to get his hands on someone. “No security guard, ain’t no UFC person, and ain’t nobody in the world will stop me getting to him.”

Woodley then talked about the video he filmed and how it gave him views. He added it made McGregor upset, but he had no intentions to make him upset. He further added that Conor said nothing afterward.

Woodley is gearing up to face Jake Paul in his boxing debut match. Although Paul is new to combat sports, he has already claimed a KO win over a legitimate prizefighter in Ben Askren. So, Woodley is not at all taking him lightly.

“How you gonna say someone’s not dangerous when they have knockouts? So of course he’s dangerous,” Woodley said. “He has power, he has size. He obviously loves boxing. So now he’s put himself in a position to actually try to make a real run at this.”

Woodley would look to break his losing jinx. He hasn’t won in 4 matches and is making a debut in boxing. If he fares well in his debut match, it will open up new possibilities for him going ahead.
