We’re just a few days away from perhaps the biggest event of the year. Any Conor McGregor fight card generates an insane amount of buzz around it.
The eyes of the world will be on Vegas as ‘The Notorious’ will aim to prove that he is indeed a better fighter than Dustin Poirier. The Irishman will look to secure a second win over ‘The Diamond’.
Davis continued, “He can focus on the leg kicks all he wants. It does not make a difference, we know how to win fights. So if one particular leg kick is not there for us, then we got plan B. And if plan B doesn’t work we got a plan C and so on and so forth. He can keep working on checking kicks all he wants. The idea is we still going to chop that tree down.”

Going into their second fight, McGregor had never been knocked out in his professional MMA career. A knockout win for Poirier would have been the least likely outcome that both fans and pundits would have predicted. However, by hampering Conor McGregor’s movement, ‘The Diamond’ made McGregor a sitting duck.
‘The Notorious’ is known for his striking and is considered one of the best, if not the best striker in the UFC. Poirier, who is not far behind, displayed that brilliantly in the second fight and nullified the Irishman. The former interim lightweight champion landed an impressive 48 significant strikes with an accuracy of 52% as compared to McGregor who landed 29 with an accuracy of 43%.

Fighting at lightweight has allowed Poirier to absorb shots a lot better as he is not depleting his body to make 145-pounds. It was clear that McGregor’s shots did not have the same effect as they did in the first fight.
