It is rarely that we see Dale Earnhardt Jr and Joe Gibbs on the same side. For years of being rivals in the NASCAR Cup Series, it is understandable for them to have a difference in opinion. However, they seem to be on the same page recently when a massive NFL sale got its desired approval. What makes the deal more special is the involvement of the NBA legend Magic Johnson in it.

It is no secret that Joe Gibbs is one of the most popular figures in the NFL world. His record-setting stints with the Washington Commanders still remain fresh in the memory of the NFL faithful. In fact, he recently had some encouraging words to share with the fans following the historic sale.

For months, the sale of the Washington Commanders has been ongoing. All this time, the Dan Snyder-owned team was engaged in talks with a group led by private equity investor Josh Harris. However, after a voting session on Thursday, the deal was unanimously approved by the NFL owners.

As per ESPN, the confirmed sale value is to be around $6.05 billion, which is touted to be a record sum for a US sports franchise. After owning the team since 1999, the Snyder family will now part ways. While the deal brings a change, it must come as a fresh transition for the fans, especially considering the $60 million fine Snyder is facing. The penalty comes after an investigation found him guilty of sexually harassing a team employee and the team for withholding revenue from the NFL.

Most certainly, the fans would now be hoping to let the bygones be bygones and have a fresh start. In fact, they’ll be delighted to know the personalities involved in the deal. The Josh Harris group includes five-time NBA champion Magic Johnson. Understandably, Johnson expressed his extreme delight in getting associated with the Commanders.

While having him wasn’t enough, the legendary Coach Gibbs added more positivity to the news with his comments. He said, “The NFL has grown a great deal since my time as a coach in this league but what hasn’t changed is my belief that with great leadership from the top, the drive to win on the field, and a commitment to culture – Championship teams are created.”

Gibbs continued, “Josh and his team share these values and I am committed to doing what I can to re-connect this great franchise to the community, fanbase, and alumni.” Obviously, this would inspire the Washington Commanders faithful to get behind the team given what their beloved 82-year-old had to say.

In fact, many, including Dale Earnhardt Jr, showed their belief in their own creative way.

Not many know but Joe Gibbs and Josh Harris share a very strong relationship. As a matter of fact, not long ago, Harris made a small investment in Gibbs’s NASCAR team Joe Gibbs Racing. Plus, his strong association with Washington Commanders has only helped the duo get along well with each other.

What that has also done is instilled faith in the fans for Harris and his group. Knowing how Gibbs trusts Harris, the fans are more inclined to do the same. In fact, Dale Earnhardt Jr did the same as he reposted the post involving Joe Gibbs’s positive words for Harris and his group. It is a sign of confidence in the new owners. It was not just Junior who did that but even fans echoed similar thoughts.
