Alex Bowman faced a harrowing ordeal when a horrifying car accident during a sprint car race in April left him with a fractured vertebra. The incident occurred during the opening heat of a race in the High Limit Sprint Car Series in West Burlington, Iowa. Alex Bowman, behind the wheel of the #48 car, collided with fellow driver Conner Morrell after striking Morrell’s rear tire. The impact sent both cars hurtling through the air, reminiscent of scenes from an action movie.

During his recent interview with Frontstretch, the #48 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 driver stated, “I mean, for me it’s been interesting, cause I feel like we couldn’t really do it do much wrong. Before I got hurt, you know, we were running really well every week, you know, we’re really good at points, really good average finish. And since then, anytime we’re running well, something happens and when we’re bad you can’t put us out of our misery.”

Alex further added, “So it’s really just been a complete 180 of where we were at I feel like… I don’t think that’s come from you know somebody doing something or a change. I feel like a sport has a lot of ups and flows and you know, we were up when I left and I came back when we’re a little bit down. But you know we’ve had good speed lately. So I think we’re we’re on the good side of things.”

The absence caused by Bowman’s injury cost him valuable points in the Cup series, pushing him to the edge of the playoff qualification cutoff. However, his triumphant return showcased his unwavering resolve to claw his way back into contention.
