After Showing NASCAR Fans the Middle Finger, Bubba Wallace Takes a Dig at Ross Chastain While Decoding Kyle Larson’s Special Performance
North Wilkesboro turned out to be yet another strong result for Bubba Wallace after his Top 5 finishes at Kansas and Darlington recently. But of course, he’d have wanted that elevator ride to the victory lane at the NWB Speedway to collect the million-dollar check.
Yet it was one of those days for the 23XI Racing driver where he was better than the rest but one.
And that one was Kyle Larson who he finished second to in the All-Star Race. As for why the Hendrick Motorsports driver was so good on the night, Wallace had a pretty simple and hilarious response in which he took a subtle jibe at Ross Chastain.

Bubba Wallace on the secret behind Kyle Larson’s success
After flipping a bird—supposedly at some fans—during a post-race interview, Wallace seemed to have come back to his cheerful self. During a later interaction with the media, Wallace was asked whether Larson’s dominance and his pulling away to a win in which he led at one point by over 10 seconds was a result of the track or short-track racing. The #23 driver replied, “Hell it’s been like that ever since he got in the #5 car.
“So, every once in a while he’ll slip up or Ross [Chastain] will get to him and take him out! Part of it.”
"We won the best of the rest," says Bubba Wallace and he says it's no shame losing to the 5 but they come here to win too.
Also, fun little exchange between me and Bubba about this surface at the end of the video. pic.twitter.com/MyRUOay3TN

Further opening up on what worked in Larson’s favor at North Wilkesboro, Bubba Wallace claimed the HMS driver could “attack hard” and still be left with something in his tank in the end.

“If this was a normal race, something to be excited about – but this was for a $1 million, and you come up short and walk away with nothing,” he said as per Motorsport.com, adding, “Congrats to Larson. He’s been on a rail lately.”
Having said that, Wallace claimed he’s looking forward to “show up” on their home turf next week at Charlotte. He insisted they have to “keep the momentum rolling” and get themselves deeper into the Playoffs.
