In only a few days, the NASCAR Cup Series will witness the fourth race of the season kick-off at the Phoenix Raceway, an important race for Bubba Wallace as the North Carolina native revealed his #23 Camry XSE will feature the US Air Force paint scheme. But while there’s still some time before we get to see the car in action at the tri-oval, Wallace also embarked on a drifting adventure with fellow US Air Force affiliates who also happen to be professionals at putting the car sideways.

For a NASCAR driver, there is perhaps no sound more haunting than that of screeching rubber. After all, a lockup of even a few meters could result in bald spots on each tire, resulting in the loss of precious tenths from the overall lap time. However, this time around, Bubba Wallace was all smiles as he burned rubber with Formula Drift Pro Amanda Sorensen and her brother Branden Sorensen, who are both sponsored by the US Air Force.

While the official content of the collaboration is yet to drop, the FD pros and Bubba Wallace all took to Instagram to share their day out in the new $46,440 Toyota Supra. Wallace could be seen sliding the car until the tires literally melted, leaving behind a puff of smoke and tire marks. While not much information about the purpose of the meetup was revealed, it’s safe to say 23XI fans should keep an eye on their social media to find out.

With that said, Bubba Wallace shared how successfully the day went on IG, expressing his excitement at sliding a car and not having to flinch out of habit from his stock car racing. He stated, “Well, the day is wrapped up here, tires are blown. Learning how to drift out here with my peeps, Branden. So yeah, fun day!” Wallace also provided fans with a POV shot of him drifting the Toyota Supra, ending the series of stories by asking fans to stay tuned.

While it’s safe to say Bubba Wallace is definitely enjoying his time away from the on-track action, let’s take a look at the odds for Wallace’s campaign at Phoenix Raceway this weekend.

Although Wallace kicked off the 2024 season with two solid top fives for 23XI Racing, the NC native is eager to bounce back after the Las Vegas blunder. Currently, Caeser’s Sportsbook has revealed the finishing position over/under for the Cup Series race, and Bubba Wallace is placed at 17.5. This means that you could either bet over, meaning Wallace will finish lower than 17th, or under, meaning he will finish better than 17th.

If we take a look at Wallace’s last few outings at Phoenix, the 23XI racer has managed to bring in two strong results within the top 15, with one top-ten. With his strong performances early in the season, Wallace is aiming to continue that streak despite the Vegas setback. Now that the Camry XSE is also showcasing some solid pace, betting on Wallace finishing higher than 17th could prove fruitful for those willing to risk it.

However, it’s not unusual for a wreck late in the race to catch the front pack off guard, and it will be crucial for Wallace to stay out of trouble and bring home a solid result if he aims to continue the upward movement within 23XI racing.
