Following the NASCAR Cup race at Watkins Glen, Chase Elliott made a bit of a fool of himself. He was under the impression that the next race was the Playoff race at Bristol. Unfortunately, he did not realize that the regular season was still on, and the next race was at Daytona. Twitter was quick to catch the slip-up and was not ready to let him forget about it in a hurry.

Now, it is finally time for the Bristol race, and once again fans were quick to tease Elliott once again.

They all said that this was the one race that the #9 driver had been waiting for. Others joked that the driver would be glad to know that people have already begun to arrive for the race. Some even said that the 2020 Cup champion had been thinking a little too much about Bristol.

Admittedly, some people did admit that they would be glad to see the back of this joke. This is because the joke can get a little tiresome after sometime. All jokes aside, Chase Elliott knows the importance of the Bristol Playoff race in the fight for the Cup Series championship. One thing is for sure, this will be everyone’s last chance to lock their places in the next round of the Playoffs.

Unfortunately for the Playoff contenders, there have been non-Playoff drivers winning races. To be precise, Erik Jones and Bubba Wallace won at Darlington and Kansas respectively. This places a lot of pressure on the Playoff drivers, especially if the trend is going to continue at Bristol.

In other words, all 16 drivers know that at the Bristol Motor Speedway, the kid gloves come off. This is because desperation will steadily set in for all of them. So there is a possibility that the aggression will be amped up and we may see some fireworks on display.
