“Craziest Things You Could Think of” – Joey Logano Reveals Lessons Learned From 2020 NASCAR Season

The Championship 4 race lived up to its billing at the Phoenix Raceway. Although Chase Elliott put up a fabulous drive to claim the trophy, Joey Logano was definitely not far behind.
But it goes back to how everyone in NASCAR has to adapt to newer procedures and protocols en route, even having a season in the first place. Logano for one, has admitted that it has been a “crazy” year for everybody involved.
He is quoted as saying, “Yeah, I mean, I think personally, it proves to us that the craziest things you could think of and things we would never be open to do before this year is possible. Nothing is ever as crazy as you think it is, right?”

“If you told us we were going to a road course and never have practice and we’re just going to line up and race. And you told us that in January or February, we’d think you were nuts, that would never happen.”
Joey Logano feels being even more ‘open-minded’ is possible
The Cup Series format has seen a formula adaptation used in place of the generic qualifying sessions to determine the starting grid this season. But in challenging times, drivers would prefer to be out there racing rather than discussing and deliberating on trivial details.
“We have to have a test session, we have to have a bunch of practice. It’s not possible. We did it, and it was a great race, right, down in Daytona.”
“I think the biggest thing that we can all take away from this is that we can be more open‑minded to change and know that as different as things feel, eventually it becomes a new normal. I think that was a big challenge for everybody.”
Overall, unprecedented times have posed a challenge for everyone in the world. In that regard, having racing action back live across various circuits has certainly brought a cheer to NASCAR fans.

Logano was one of the first drivers to qualify for the Championship 4 race and was a definite title contender. Even more so after Elliott’s penalty meant that the No.9 had to start from the back of the grid.
With his win at Kansas, he looked good for another title following his previous success in 2018. But having led 119 laps into the race, tire vibrations and a genuine lack of relative race pace cost him the lead.

But, the Daytona 500 race in a few months’ time represents an opportunity for all drivers to start afresh. With a reset button on the season, Logano will hope to take in all the experiences and showcase a much better fight in 2021.
