Ferrari F1 Champion Kimi Raikkonen Breaks Trademark ‘Iceman’ Persona When Put on the Spot During NASCAR Debut

Kimi Raikkonen and his F1 journey might be over, but the Finnish driver is not done with racing just yet. Kimi is set to embark on a new journey. The 2007 World Champion and Formula 1 legend will drive his first ever Elite Series NASCAR race on Sunday.
Speaking to the media ahead of his race, Raikkonen was asked a rather unusual question regarding him racing in the NASCAR. Kimi was left unimpressed by the question, and the ‘man of few words’ had a lot to answer.

“Why does a world champion do something like this where even with the testing, you’ve had limited time in the car, Why take that risk in one sense, Failure?” – questioned the journalist.
The former Ferrari driver looked calm and collected while answering the question. He replied, “Well, I don’t see any risk. Why not?” The Forty-Two year old went on to add that he had “Nothing to lose”.

Kimi also went on to add, “I don’t care, you know, I do it for myself, and, good or bad end result, that could happen even if I did the twenty races”

The Iceman continued his rant and said, “But you know, I don’t see any negative, I think its great what Justin and his team is doing for giving a chance you know for all of us that are from Europe is quite, it’s not as known obviously, over the years its more known NASCAR there”
Kimi Raikkonen hopes to see more European drivers in Nascar
Kimi Raikkonen believes NASCAR and its gradual popularity will hopefully result in more European drivers racing in the American competition. The Former World Champion believes a lot of European drivers would like the chance of racing in NASCAR, but find it difficult to get an opportunity.

“I’m sure there are a lot of drivers and who would like to have a chance and try it, but its not very easy, so maybe it opens some door that in the future, there’s more some kind of chance to try to get more Europeans also in”
