In the hallowed racing grounds of Homestead-Miami, champions have been crowned for nearly two decades before Phoenix took over in 2020. Now, NASCAR’s decision to return championship weekend to the South Florida track in 2026 came with an unexpected twist. Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski are joining forces in a hilarious time-traveling promotional video that has fans roaring with laughter. The unlikely duo, who have both claimed championships at the iconic 1.5-mile oval, stepped into a time machine to “discover” the future of NASCAR’s championship venue. Thus creating one of the most entertaining announcements in recent memory.
The viral video, posted on NASCAR’s official Instagram account, accompanied Tuesday’s news that Homestead-Miami Speedway will host the 2026 NASCAR championship weekend from November 6-8. This marks the first time since 2019 that champions will be crowned in South Florida, kicking off a new rotating format for the season finale. NASCAR executive vice president Ben Kennedy explained that the rotation will “ensure that the season’s exciting conclusion is shared amongst NASCAR’s marquee venues and key markets,” with Phoenix remaining part of the future rotation.
Homestead-Miami’s return to championship glory carries significant historical weight. The track served as NASCAR’s season finale from 2002 through 2019, crowning numerous legends, including seven-time champion Jimmie Johnson, who has a tunnel at the track named in his honor. Among active drivers, three have celebrated championships at Homestead – Kyle Busch (2015, 2019), Brad Keselowski (2012), and Joey Logano (2018). The venue has delivered some of NASCAR’s most memorable championship moments, with Kennedy noting that “Homestead has put on some of the most phenomenal finishes, especially when we had the championship there.”

This promotional video was perhaps the best one so far this season, and it came from NASCAR production. We all know how FOX snubbed the biggest event – Daytona 500, and went overboard with the promotions on the IndyCar side of things. So this was sort of a small win on that front, but what stood out was Kyle Busch’s methodical acting and Brad Keselowski’s taking jabs at Denny Hamlin’s championship struggles. It was more than entertaining and led the dialogue among the fans, who shared their takes on the video.
Fans react to Busch-Keselowski Back to the Future Homestead announcement
One fan comment that perfectly captured the video’s appeal noted, “Makes sense that Brad would be here, as NASCAR’s most accomplished feature film star.” This witty observation references Keselowski’s previous cameo in a shark movie, showcasing the NASCAR community’s shared inside jokes. Fellow Cup Series driver Chase Briscoe added legitimacy to this sentiment, commenting: “I legit laughed out loud. Give @keselowski an Academy Award for the part when the car went to the future 😂.” Keselowski’s deadpan delivery in the time-travel sequence clearly impressed both fans and fellow competitors alike.
Another fan comment, “Joey Logano Three Time Champion, We gotta stop this. Now that’s how to use a damn time machine,” cleverly played into the time-travel theme while referencing Logano’s championship success. This fan still isn’t over last year’s championship triumph, where the Penske star etched his name in the history book with a third title to his name. If Busch and Brad were to use the time machine as this fan wished, they could perhaps play spoilsport or change the course of history. In this case, stopping Logano from winning the Bill France trophies.

Have an interesting take?
The video also prompted several references to Kyle Busch’s well-known personality, with one fan commenting, “Surprised they didn’t do a ‘and people cheered me’ joke from Busch,” nodding to his sometimes polarizing relationship with fans. Another fan quipped, “Kyle when he gets back from the future: ‘Note to self, before you take that trip to Mexico in a couple years, check your suitcase,’” referencing a past incident. These comments demonstrate how the NASCAR fandom incorporates drivers’ histories and personalities into their appreciation of promotional content. Bubba Wallace’s enthusiastic response – “Brav effing O!!!!!!!” – further validated the video’s effectiveness among the driver community.
Perhaps most notably, one fan observed, “Did not have Kyle and Brad working together on my bingo card. I wonder if they buried the hatchet.” This comment highlights the unexpected pairing of two drivers who haven’t always seen eye-to-eye throughout their careers. Back in 2017, the two drivers were at odds with each other, but the rift started way back in 2010, when Keselowski ripped into Rowdy during the driver’s intro, stating, “Kyle Busch is an a–.” While this beef was purely competitive and who comes out on top, Busch wasn’t keen on making peace with his rival. So, there’s quite a bit of history between the two drivers, and yet they are collaborating on NASCAR’s biggest announcement of the season.
Which NASCAR driver collaboration would you like to see next? Perhaps Denny Hamlin and Kyle Larson tagging along in the same video would break the internet.
