2020 turned out to be a magnificent season for Chase Elliott and Hendrick Motorsports. Following a good regular season and a charge through the playoffs, the 25-year-old made it to the Championship 4 race at Phoenix.
Despite getting a grid penalty in the race, he blitzed through past the traffic from the back of the field. In doing so, he got rightly rewarded with a Cup Series title at the end of it all after a well-fought race.
Speaking in an interview, Elliott opened up on what is next in the Cup Series for him. With the entering of a new decade, there is a possibility that we could see one of the next biggest superstars in the sport.

Elliott stated, “Especially now with the way the points system is, coming down to one race. I think it just makes it that much harder to go on a big run.”
Reaching the Championship 4 race is a great achievement, says Chase Elliott
“Is it achievable? Absolutely. But I think the most important thing is to just be in that mix as frequently as you can.”
Despite having a decent regular season, it was from the playoffs stage onwards that Elliott really hit his stride. His win at Martinsville at the very end in the Round of 8 paved his way to the title-decider.
The Hendrick Motorsports No.9 continued, “Making that final 4 I think is a great achievement, honestly. As time goes on, we’ve seen a very consistent group of drivers be in the final 4 since that deal was implemented back in what, 2014.
“There’s six guys I feel like kind of interchange and 2-3 of them I feel like they’re always there.”

“So that’s where I want to get, I want to be in that mix. I want to be in the mix of making that final 4 for every year.
“I think we’re very capable of that as a team, Alan and I haven’t really sat down and gone over the specifics, but we both want the same things,” concluded Elliott.
