“It’s Their Sandbox” – Denny Hamlin Scrutinizes Hendrick Motorsports While Unveiling the “Unanimous Sentiment” Against Rick Hendrick’s Team
Put yourself in the shoes of Denny Hamlin and you’ll understand just why he is so frustrated and feels hard done by. The veteran’s penalty was upheld by the committee that modified the penalty of Hendrick Motorsports from arguably a far more severe violation than his.
As soon as the Appeals Board announced his penalty decision, Hamlin went on to his podcast and shared his thoughts on what happened, which led to him calling HMS cheaters at one point.
More recently, though, he threw some more shade at Rick Hendrick’s team ahead of the race in Bristol.

Denny Hamlin claims NASCAR too isn’t happy with Hendrick’s penalty modification
Speaking to the media ahead of the race in Bristol this weekend, Hamlin pointed towards the anonymous survey that The Athletic conducted recently in which a majority of crew chiefs disapproved of the fact that Hendrick’s penalty was modified to be only a monetary fine.
“I think that was a pretty unanimous sentiment inside the garage,” he claimed.

“Listen, NASCAR wasn’t happy about that getting overturned, the lack of transparency or the understanding of why it got overturned didn’t make sense to everyone. So everyone was angry,” Hamlin described. “There’s only one team certainly that is happy about results from last week. And so it’s their sandbox and they’re angry they could scrutinize you more so than they do other cars.
“That’s just kind of how things have worked for a long time and I’m not sure it’ll end anytime soon.”

Speaking in the recent “Emergency” episode of the Actions Detrimental podcast, Denny Hamlin claimed that his penalty ruling cemented what he had suggested in a recent tweet of his – “I don’t know anymore. I don’t know.”
“Two different panelists found the same infractions, we’re assuming same infractions, with a different resuamueblt. The panel for Hendrick acknowledged that they did something they shouldn’t have altered the racecar for a performance advantaged, essentially, let me call it, they cheated,” he described.
