The comeback is complete for Kyle Larson in the NASCAR Cup Series. On Sunday evening, Larson put in one of his most dominant performances to win the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, clinching his maiden NASCAR win in the Hendrick Motorsports car.
The new No. 5 car driver was always a major contender on the 1.5-mile tracks, and he showed exactly why he is good there. Larson was among the leaders from the opening lap itself, as pole-sitter Kevin Harvick fell behind right away.
Larson, driving in his first Cup race in the ‘Hendrickcars.com’ No. 5 car, was ecstatic at the performance of the Hendrick car. Drivers are always expected to do well in a Hendrick car, but when you add his talent to the frame, such impressive runs become a quite a common occurrence.

“It was such an awesome race car. Cliff and everybody did a great job preparing this piece,” Larson said in his interview on the track, right after his race.
“It was so much fun to drive, I could go wherever I wanted to. I knew we had a very good car once we kind of get single-filed out,” he added.
Kyle Larson thankful to Hendrick and Jeff Gordon for the ‘gift’
Not long ago, Larson did not know if he would get another chance to compete for a NASCAR Cup win again. He thanked Rick Hendrick and HMS legend Jeff Gordon for the opportunity and proved his worth to them in the best way possible.

“Thank you so much, Mr. H, Jeff Gordon, everybody at Hendrick Motorsports for the amazing opportunity I’ve been gifted…This is definitely special. It’s blessed,” Larson said further.
The opening stage of Sunday’s race, in particular, was one of the most entertaining passages in a long time. The top drivers fought hard all race, and Larson’s biggest challenge came from Brad Keselowski, who finished second.

“That was some fun racing on the restart. I hope everybody enjoyed it, I know I did. Had fun racing Brad and Denny and everybody, and try giving it away there on the green flag stop.
“But thankfully, we were able to have a good enough car to hold them all off,” Larson concluded.
