Having said that, the recent talk of the town in the world of NASCAR is the signing of John Hunter Nemechek to the Legacy Motor Club for the 2024 Cup Series season for the No. 42 car. While the NASCAR community could not be more elated by the news, the unsolved mystery that has yet to find a solution is who shall pilot the No. 20 Xfinity Series car for the 2024 season.

Martin Truex Jr. protégé leaves the NASCAR world in a dilemma

The sudden termination of Noah Gragson for breaching the code of conduct left Legacy Motor Club in tough waters. Although the team could acquire substitute drivers for the 2023 season, a permanent solution was not in sight. However, as the saying goes, “It’s not over till it’s over”, Toyota came in as the fairy godmother for LMC after the team was set to join the manufacturer for the 2024 season.

Toyota was adamant about retaining John Hunter Nemechek under their banner, capitalized on LMC’s situation, and made sure the Xfinity Series driver had a guaranteed ride for the next season as well. While things seem to be looking up for Jimmie Johnson and his team, Joe Gibbs Racing is left with a big void to fill for 2024 after losing its prodigy to Legacy. M.C.

The question is who shall drive the No. 20 Toyota Xfinity car for the upcoming season, a seat that was originally occupied by Nemechek. Although quite a few names have cropped up, it seems that a driver is already in mind for the team, especially after the recent post on Twitter.

In the post written by Skewcar, it read, “Since John Hunter Nemechek is going full-time Cup racing in 2024, that leaves a question… Who do you think will/should take over the No. 20 Joe Gibbs Racing Xfinity Series entry in 2024?”

The audience seemed to state a number of names, but a comment by the brother of Martin Truex Jr., Ryan Truex, apparently left the audience second-guessing their choices. The part-time JGR retweeted the post with a thinking emoji, leaving the NASCAR world in ambivalence.

However, the notion of Ryan Truex joining Joe Gibbs Racing cannot be ruled out completely, owing to the fact that Martin Truex Jr. has spilled the beans on Ryan Truex’s racing future. After sweeping the Dover race by Ryan and Martin Truex Jr., the No. 19 Cup Series driver stated, “We’ve got races for (Ryan Truex) again next year. Hopefully more.”

“We are looking for sponsorship to do a full year, if possible. That is on the table. He will be running part-time, but obviously, it would be great if we could get him a full-time deal, so any out there looking for a good driver? He does a good job on social media too.“

Nevertheless, the comment by Ryan Truex has sent the NASCAR world into a frenzy and made them rethink their choices. Many wrote under the post:

“HE SENT THE EMOJI, YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS!! I don’t know what that means, but it would be a W if he was in the 20, or any competitive full-time ride.”
