The former 23XI Racing driver opened up on how he’s feeling “much better” with “tremendous” improvements in his recovery. Now, even though he may return, which would be a cause of jubilation not just in his fans but in general in NASCAR, there is still a sour pill to swallow about this considering where the sport is this weekend.

Because had Kurt Busch not suffered that concussion injury last year, he would surely have been one of the favorites to run in the All-Star race at North Wilkesboro Speedway, a sad what-if his recent tweet reminded the fans of.

Ahead of the All-Star race on Sunday, the 2004 Cup champion took to his social media to express his excitement and his appreciation for the comeback of NWS. “N. Wilkesboro, NC is back from the dead. Thanks to the hard work of the @NASCAR community, the state, and Speedway Motorsports, the spirit of everyone here is alive and well. Very cool experience!” Busch wrote.

In an interview with Forbes earlier this year, Kurt Busch claimed he’s “doing well” as he opened up on his recovery process, which has brought normalcy back to his everyday life.

“I notice things that bring me up and then break me down when I have to do a day on and a day off now. Where I was pushing seven days a week to try to get back to the car and then in all honesty, I took December off. It was an emotional time and that was part of this process as well. But I’m doing well.” He described.
