The Cup Series in NASCAR does not hinge on small budgets. The cash that flows into the sport through sponsors and external funding can easily calculate up to tens of millions. In light of this, it is only natural that the governing body handsomely rewards its drivers, who also happen to be the biggest attractions of the sport.

While the Cup series has plans of rewarding their next race winners with millions, the Truck Series is not so much behind.

With the Kansas race just around the corner, Bob Pockrass just revealed the purse of the Cup and Truck Series. The Fox News reporter reveals the monetary disparity between the two payout structures. On his Twitter handle, the reporter wrote,Purses for Kansas weekend, incl all payouts for all positions, all charter per-race payouts based on being in the race and previous three-year season-ending performance, contingency awards, contributions to year-end pts fund, etc.:

Cup: $7,536,752

Truck: $734,551.

The purse that Bob Pockrass revealed includes the payout for all the positions in the race. It is also divided among all the drivers, with the winner of the race taking the lion’s share and the remaining balance being distributed among other drivers in accordance with their finishing positions.

Although the number of avid fans of the NASCAR Cup Series is statistically more than compared to the Truck Series, the revelation about the number, or rather the difference between the two figures, didn’t sit well with the fans.

One fan exclaimed, “And this is a fine example of why daddy’s money gets you a ride. The franchise/charter mode is the only way forward.”

“Why is the difference in purses so bad. Who’d wanna race in that series?????”

“Lame for trucks.”

“No wonder tickets prices are high and the winner gets $ 850k or more”

“So sad for the truck series”

Meanwhile, a fan came up with a solution to the whole kerfuffle, saying, “People complaining about the truck purse and all they have to do is, put their b**ts in the seats and start selling out the races like they did at Gateway. It’s pathetic how 300 people will show up for a truck race and most of them are families of the people racing.”
