Yes, you heard that right. In the wake of the family’s 75 glorious years in NASCAR, Richard Petty‘s grandson Thad Moffitt is rumored to make his Truck Series debut in the upcoming season.

The ARCA/Trans-Am 2 Series driver is said to be part of the newest team in the division, Faction 46. But are the rumors, after all, true, or is it just a case of overzealous fan speculation? Not quite so. Recently, the young driver came out with a new social media post that deepened the plot, only to make fans scrounge for more updates.

Thad Moffitt, grandson of Richard Petty, teases the NASCAR nation with major news

23-year-old Thad Moffitt made his NASCAR debut last year when he got the role of a part-timer at Reaume Brothers Racing in Daytona. Moffitt, who has competed in the ARCA Series since 2017, qualified his #43 Chevy for RBR, which is closely associated with GMS Racing. But as we reach the end of 2023, major rumors are circulating in NASCAR nation that Petty’s grandson will return to the third-ranked NASCAR faction in 2024.

Now coming to the meat of the matter, the young driver pushed the community into deep speculations when he tweeted out two short clips: one of Kyle Petty in his #44 car and another of the late Adam Petty in his #45 car. While the short clips made the fans shed a tear, getting them back to the days, the youngster pushed the envelopes even more so when he dropped another tweet.

This one, unlike the other 2, wasn’t clips or videos but a date, “12.09.23,” with a pen emoji, signaling that the driver might be penning down a new contract, possibly with the youngest Truck Series team, Faction46.
