NASCAR-sanctioned competitions aren’t the only motorsports series that are all the rage these days. With everyone having access to the internet and social media, fans have access to many more racing series. These competitions have garnered much interest and their races often get a lot of traction. Two such competitions are the Superstar Racing Experience and the CARS Tour. Recently, there was some talk about the two competitions potentially hosting a double-header at the North Wilkesboro.

The SRX Series saw its debut season in 2021 which was won by its co-founder Tony Stewart. Over the three years it has been active, the competition has earned several fans who relish to see their former heroes battle it out on track again. The CARS Tour, on the other hand, has been around a while but has recently earned a lot of popularity thanks to former Cup Series drivers being a part of the owners’ team.

SRX executive speaks highly of North Wilkesboro Speedway

In a recent video released on Twitter SRX Chief Executive Officer Donald Hawk spoke about the possibility of his competition and the CARS Tour organizing a doubler-header at the iconic North Wilkesboro Speedway. Currently, Tony Stewart’s competition races six times a year, and none of them are at the iconic speedway.

Speaking about the possibility of SRX heading to North Wilkesboro, Hawk said, “I’ll tell you, I would even go so far as to say North Wilkesboro is the kind of place, you could actually get me to call up the other owners and say, let’s ask the network to do a seventh race. I think North Wilkesboro could be that big.”

The CARS Tour, on the other hand, has not one but two races at the legendary race track, including the 2024 finale. Speaking about a possible collaboration, Don Hawk put forth an idea that will sound quite appealing to a lot of racing fans. “How about a double-header that night? CARS Tour finale and SRX,” he added.

While SRX might not race at the North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2024, one race track that will be part of Tony Stewart’s racing series will be the Slinger Speedway in Wisconsin.

The Superstar Racing Experience will return to the track on July 25. In its inaugural season, the event drew large crowds to the bleachers, introduced the venerable quarter-mile to a national TV audience, and introduced outstanding drivers to the Wisconsin racing faithful.

“Every single year people have asked this time of year, are they coming, are they coming, are they coming?” track owner Todd Thelen said as per Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “And it’s a lot of people, not just a couple of friends. Social media lights up with it, and then SRX goes, ‘Where do you want to go this year?!?’ and if there’s 500 hundred comments, a hundred of them would be, ‘Come back to Slinger.’ And it’s not just from local people. It’s from people that follow the SRX and enjoyed the event.”
