Ahead of the Cup Series at Homestead-Miami this Sunday, Corey LaJoie is set to get a new Crew Chief in Steve Letarte.
Considering regular boss Ryan Sparks will be adhering to NASCAR’s COVID-19 protocols, the No.7 will have a fresh face atop his pit box in the upcoming weekend.
In addition to Sparks, two members of the No.7 Spire Motorsports pit crew will also be unavailable owing to the same reason. But from the looks of it, the 29-year-old driver is certainly looking forward to the experience.

Corey responded to the news on Twitter and wrote, “Gotta love it when celebrities want to come to the races.” To which Letarte got in on the action himself and said, “The races??? I thought you said I could do this from home. Haha. No place I would rather be than a race track.”
Letarte has experience as a Crew Chief with some notable drivers
The former mechanic-turned-broadcaster possesses considerable nous working as a Crew Chief for the likes of Dale Earnhardt Jr and Jeff Gordon in the past.
After spending a touch more than 5 seasons with Gordon, Letarte switched to work for Earnhardt Jr, with whom he won 5 races.

LaJoie had previously stated, “That guy’s just an awesome personality, but I probably didn’t give him enough credit — and I was probably a bit young when he was crew chiefing for Jeff and crew chiefing for Dale Earnhardt Jr.”

Letarte enters the Spire Motorsports No.7 fold at a time where LaJoie has finishes of 7th and 31st, respectively. The North Carolina native was particularly impressive in the ‘Great American Race’, which came with its own set of accidents and wrecks.
The 29-year-old was also in contention for a top half finish at the road course variant, but did not materialize in the end.
