Daniel Suarez talks about the one thing that makes Indianapolis special

The Trackhouse Racing driver for the #99 team holds a deep-rooted love for Indianapolis, regardless of the kind of track or the type of car he is driving. To him, it’s more than a track; it’s a repository of history, an emblem of speed.

“I think that a win here in Indianapolis, it would be like a dream,” said Suarez in a pre-race conference. “This place is like none other you know. Every time that you go through the tunnel and you see the museum in front of you. It is quite special. I remember like it was yesterday the very first time I crossed the tunnel, and I still get goosebumps just like the very first time. So it would be very special to get a win here and I think that we are fully capable of doing it. And like I said, I think that our chances for this weekend are as good as anyone.”

Even back in the day, when the Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Oval got switched with the Road Course, he continued to praise Indy while other drivers were not happy with NASCAR’s decision.

Talking about NASCAR switching to the road course at IMS, Suarez was reported by motorsport.com as saying, “I love Indianapolis no matter what shape it is in. Whether it’s an oval or a road course, whether it’s in an Indycar or a stock car. I love going there and seeing so much history. It’s funny, the oval at Indianapolis in Cup car is like racing on a road course. So now we will be racing on the road course. I love that we are adding more and more road courses.”

Suarez not only spoke about how he loves the track, but he also qualified P1 for the race on Sunday. He shed light on what it will take for him to convert the pole to a win.

As the anticipation for the race reaches a crescendo, Daniel Suarez makes his mark on the Indianapolis Road Course by clinching the pole position.
