No driver-brand pairing in NASCAR is perhaps as iconic as that of Dale Earnhardt Jr and Sun Drop, which is a popular beverage company in the southeast. The pairing has created some memorable moments in the Xfinity Series running the #3 Chevrolet. However, keeping the festive spirit in mind, Dale Jr and Sun Drop have decided to target every NASCAR fan’s Christmas wish list with a tempting offer.

Earlier this year, the throwback collaboration from the ’90s promised to give fans a taste of nostalgia. Sun Drop announced a multi-year extension with Earnhardt Jr, which could only mean one thing. Those in the community expecting some fresh Earnhardt Jr and Sun Drop merch will have to wait no longer!

The Pied Piper of Daytona revealed an adorable NASCAR plush on Instagram. It is designed as the iconic #3 Chevrolet with the Sun Drop green livery and even a Dale Jr moniker on the windshield! The Keurig Dr. Pepper-owned company proudly displayed its logo on the hood and doors of the car.

For $19.95, fans can take home the Dale Earnhardt Jr #3 Sun Drop Plush Car Toy from ShopJrNation.com, Junior’s official merchandise store. It’s safe to say that the collaboration has been gearing up its winter campaign with the plush release.

Things look upbeat on the track front as well. Sun Drop will become the principal sponsor of one late model race in 2023 and 2024 for the NASCAR ‘Hall of Famer’, further solidifying their commitment to their partnership with the legendary driver.

It’s no secret that having Earnhardt Jr as an ambassador for Sun Drop has helped Keurig-Dr. Pepper grow the brand into a household name synonymous with NASCAR. But the drink itself has been equally valuable for Earnhardt Jr and his family, who reflected on his fond memories with the brand in a JRM Press Release, “Sun Drop has been a part of my life since I was a kid. It’s special to be able to work with a company that is authentic to who I am. I appreciate all Sun Drop has done for me over the years and for them hearing me out last year when I wanted to bring that car back to North Wilkesboro.”

The relationship runs so deep that Sun Drop extended its support to JR Motorsports driver, Carson Kvapil, as an associate sponsor at the May 17 CARS Tour Late Model race at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

The reason Earnhardt Jr and Sun Drop’s reunion has the community so excited runs deeper than just the younger Dale Earnhardt’s history with the brand. The brand sponsored his father, Dale Earnhardt Sr during the 1980s, quickly skyrocketing to success. While they never backed Earnhardt Jr full-time before due to financial restrictions, now that Sun Drop was under the Keurig-Dr. Pepper umbrella, the chance finally arose.

Earnhardt Jr’s return to Late Model Racing last year at North Wilkesboro was only made possible by the sponsor that’s always backed the Earnhardts in a crunch. Whilst he has previously worked with other brands, Sun Drop remains the two-time Daytona 500 winner’s beverage of choice. Earnhardt Jr was quoted by The Athletic, “I’ve worked with Mountain Dew in the past and Coca-Cola before that,” he said. “But at my grandmother’s house, there was always a Sun Drop in the fridge. … The other brands I’ve worked with have been nationally recognized names. But Sun Drop has always been kind of like our home team and our little North Carolina secret.”

My journey into the world of motorsports began when I watched the Top Gear Ayrton Senna tribute as a child. I later materialized my passion for motorsport through karting on the side. By the time I completed my undergrad in Journalism, I had extensive karting experience, with a few podium finishes to my name.
