A lot of expectations arose when NASCAR fans were looking forward to seeing Supercars sensations, a Le Mans winner, and an F1 champion, all sharing the same racetrack. And this was the story of last week. Fast forward to this week, not every prediction was accurate. Kamui Kobayashi did not dominate the 2.5-mile-long racetrack at Indianapolis and SVG did not finish top 5 or even contend for the win. Dale Earnhardt Jr would probably be disappointed.

However, a NASCAR insider and Bubba Wallace‘s long-time friend revealed his way of looking at the results of the Verizon 200 at the Brickyard. And this has provoked some people to lash out at him. So, what did he say that was so provocative?

Are these ringers the best at what they do? Indeed! Shane Van Gisbergen is a two-time Bathurst 1000 winner and Kamui Kobayashi is the 2021 FIA World Endurance Champion. However, these are the ovals we are talking about. A lot more nuance goes into that. One might ask, so what about SVG’s debut stock car victory? Well, someone in the crew of Door Bumper Clear had the answer.

As the curtains to one of the recent episodes rolled, fans saw the crew talking about the full-time NASCAR drivers’ supremacy at the oval tracks. And all of them agreed that clearly, the NASCAR drivers are also the best at what they do.

Freddie Kraft said, “That’s what I talked about last week; the perfect storm of Chicago, (it) was a place that our guys haven’t been before. And it’s something that SVG was used to.”

Freddie probably felt like the drivers from other racing leagues were no match for the drivers who drive full-time in NASCAR. He exclaimed, “This just is a testament to our full-time drivers that these guys are the best at what they do. SVG and [Brodie] Kostecki win all supercar races, Kobayashi dominates the damn sports car world, [Mike] Rockenfeller is a multi-time Le Mans winner. And this guy just can’t compete with our guys.”

He admitted that Indianapolis Road Course was a racetrack where even the NASCAR drivers have had merely two or three races before. Considering that, they are so much better. However, not everyone agreed with what Kraft said.

As we said, there were different opinions about the performances of SVG. The comments section of the Instagram reel clearly depicted that.

The “can’t compete” statement just seemed to irk the fans of SVG and Kostecki. They just could not take anymore and started speculating whether NASCAR drivers would bid so well if they were put behind the wheel of a Supercar.

Someone said, “This guy is insane. NASCAR has maybe 5 good drivers and 2 of those 5 have more talent than rest of the field combined. Are these guy really in denial so bad that they really believe what they are saying”

Another fan spoke in tune with the previous comment and exclaimed, “Don’t see many of the nascar regulars drive nothing but dirt. Let’s see them in a F1 race. Probably wouldn’t be real impressed with that. Theirs a handful that cld cross over.”

People even took the name of veteran NASCAR drivers and hurled their arguments at DBC, “If nascar drivers are the best of the best please explain why jimmy Johnson didn’t perform after he left nascar. Your comparing apples to oranges.”

However, things just got turned up a notch when someone conjured all their hate into one single comment saying, “Get these guys off this show please. I understand they are getting engagement but they are paint a nasty picture on NASCAR for the outsiders that wanna race. These guys get 36 weeks a year to race so I’d really hope to god that they beat the road guys who come in a race 1 or 2 times a year. Freddie and Fat Boy are just the two biggest idiots with a mic in front of them.”

A lot of controversies there, for sure. Rather than taking sides, we would love to hear what you think about this recent comment that Freddie Kraft made about the Supercar sensation. Do you feel like Gisbergen’s Grant Park 220 was just a fluke? Or do you feel like, given some practice, the Kiwi icon will dominate in NASCAR more regularly?
