I’m coming up behind him, and Kurt probably thinks I’m going to get in behind him and draft him and help him past Burton.”
Then his brother, Kurt Busch, explained his perspective and said, “The spotter says ‘car low.’ I’m like ‘who’s to the inside? I’m passing this guy.’ And I see it, it’s like the 5-car. The door of the 5 is underneath me and I’m like, bro.”

Following the incident, a major feud erupted between the two brothers. Fortunately, it only lasted a week. It was at that year’s Thanksgiving dinner when their grandmother decided to have the boys patch up and let go of their anger.
Around three years later, in 2010, the elder Busch told the press that they had calmed down by Thanksgiving and Christmas. He then mentioned that neither of them wanted to back out of that situation on track. But in the end, it only helped make their relationship stronger than ever before.
