Fans and Bubba Wallace have always shared a love-and-hate relationship. Over the years, Wallace has done some incredible stuff off the tracks but has somehow struggled to translate the same on the track. While the 23XI Racing driver had a good run at Kansas with a fourth-place finish, he has done well in finishing second in the qualifying race at Darlington. However, this hasn’t helped in motivating the fans for a positive outcome.

The 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season hasn’t played out that well for Wallace. With four DNFs in 12 races, he hasn’t been able to impress his fans. Obviously, with that in mind, they aren’t quite optimistic about the race on Sunday.

With over 150 Cup Series races to his name, Bubba Wallace is now well-versed in the demands of the competition. However, the Alabama-born driver hasn’t quite been able to make it count on the track. Naturally, this has turned frustrating for the fans as they are losing their patience as time progresses.

It only got worse when Wallace demanded to be replaced after the Circuit of The Americas Race in March. However, he has done well to bounce back and is now placed 18th on the table with 253 points. The 29-year-old was quite impressive at Kansas Speedway last Sunday with a fourth-placed finish and is touted to be better in his bid to make it to the playoffs.

With two top-five and three top-ten finishes in 12 races, the 23XI Racing driver is surely capable of doing better. In fact, Wallace has done pretty well on Saturday after finishing just behind pole winner Martin Truex Jr in the qualifying race. With his P2 finish, definitely his odds of making it count increase.

However, the fans don’t see it the same way. In fact, they are pretty confident of things going south in the main race.

It is not just Bubba Wallace’s form but his off-the-track comments that play a key role in manifesting the fans’ minds. At times, Wallace has been guilty of being too pessimist and that hasn’t bode well with the NASCAR faithful.

Given his popularity, even the slightest of reasons have been deemed as excuses and this time around the case hasn’t been different. Fans on Twitter don’t feel positive about the #23 driver’s chances on Sunday as they predict different outcomes considering the recent past.

“Lol you’ll tag the wall and end up messing up someone else’s day.”

“The job is not finished because you will wreck out. You can’t drive on a slick track in traffic.”

“It’s to bad their hard work hasn’t paid off. They need a driver not someone who is focused on making a statement”
