A riveting storyline unfolds as the Phoenix Suns prepare to take on the Brooklyn Nets, marking Kevin Durant’s return to his former home team. Despite the absence of Ben Simmons, a prominent figure during Durant’s tenure with the Nets, the focus remains on Durant’s narrative. The anticipation builds around whether the Nets will pay tribute to him with a video during the game.
Interestingly, Durant has expressed hesitation about receiving such accolades, citing that his time with the Nets was relatively short, and he didn’t believe he left a lasting impact. In a recent development, it has been confirmed that the Nets will indeed honor Durant with a tribute video, adding an extra layer of intrigue to an already highly anticipated matchup.

Before the tip-off. the franchise dedicated a few minutes to pay homage to KD through a tribute video. Showcasing clips from his time with the Nets, the team highlighted narratives of KD’s distinction as the best scorer in the NBA. The video also spotlighted his achievement of reaching 25,000 points and his well-deserved induction into the NBA’s prestigious top-75 list.
Durant graced the court for a total of 145 games during his two-season tenure. His presence elevated the franchise, consistently positioning them for victories. However, his time with the Nets came with drama as well. As a result, Kevin Durant departed from the franchise midway through the 2023 season, prompted by a knee injury. Since then, he has found a thriving home with the Phoenix Suns, emerging as a key player for one of the top contenders this season. Meanwhile, the Nets are currently riding a three-game winning streak (the fourth such streak this season).

Nets player backs up Kevin Durant
Despite the franchise’s tribute, fans remain skeptical about honoring KD, arguing that his stint with the Nets fell short of expectations. However, members of the Nets’ team have a different perspective. Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn commended KD for his optimistic mentality, while Cam Thomas took a humorous jab at both fans and Durant. Addressing fan comments and KD’s reluctance, Thomas remarked, “Whether people want to say he did or not, he did a lot for New York. He just be trolling. Don’t listen to Kevin.”
Given the strong friendship between Cam and Durant, Thomas may be privy to more insights into Durant’s time with the Nets than the fans. Moreover, while KD failed to give the Nets a championship, he constantly made them a playoff threat. Durant’s statistics during his Nets tenure were impressive, averaging 29 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.8 assists, with over one block and a 50% shooting efficiency.
