When you google Donovan Mitchell, you will get tonnes of headlines stating he is “upset”, or he is “angry” or he is sharing his point of view on a previous on-court altercation, or maybe he is voicing his “opinions” against the game officials. It makes you wonder if Mitchell does have a short temper. Is it probably his anger or rage that brings out the best in him that he can perform the way he does on the court? Well, only Spida can really answer this correctly. And so he did! In a recent podcast appearance, Cleveland Cavaliers’ star Donovan Mitchell did exactly that, sharing his pet peeves and the things that irked him the most.

In his appearance on Thanasis Antetokounmpo’s podcast, Mitchell was shelling out revelation after revelation; and he hit is fans with some shocking truths about himself, calling them pet peeves. Hint: He probably does have anger issues. This is what he said, “I’m a big road rage person on the road when I drive. Like, I cuss people out. That’s probably my biggest thing. Everybody that knows me, knows I have a quick fuse.” Mitchell also mentioned another pet peeve, stating, “I hate people who walk slow too if I’m trying to go somewhere.”

Past instances of Donovan Mitchell seeing red

Considering Mitchell agreed to have a “quick fuse”, there have been many instances to prove the same when it comes to playing. For instance, during a match against the Chicago Bulls on March 17, 2022, Mitchell became frustrated with subpar officiating. However, rather than directing his aggression towards the referees, Mitchell aimed it at the Bulls. In a performance of historic significance, Mitchell scored 37 points and dished out five dimes. He set a franchise record (for the Utah Jazz) by scoring 25 points in the 3rd quarter.

Another recent occurrence of Donovan Mitchell losing his composure took place less than a month ago. During a match against the San Antonio Spurs, Spida lashed out at Spurs’ Zach Collins for setting an illegal screen. Replays showed that Collins caught Spida with an elbow while setting the screen.

Mitchell was ejected for his transgressions. While Mitchell has always come across as a level-headed NBA professional, sometimes emotions do get the better of him, occasionally leading to full-blown altercations.
