The Los Angeles Clippers are struggling. The team head coached by Tyronn Lue, has now dropped three straight games, with their latest defeat coming against the Phoenix Suns. While a significant part of their troubles comes from Kawhi Leonard’s absence, who is dealing with an ankle sprain, according to a former Clippers player, a flaw in Tyronn Lue’s coaching is another reason for their poor form.

While discussing JJ Redick’s hands-on approach on Run It Back TV, former Clippers player DeMarcus Cousins pointed out a stark difference between the Los Angeles head coaches. He talked about a huge flaw in Tyronn Lue’s coaching style that might not only stop his team from breaking out of this poor run, but also brought them there in the first place.

Because you brought up the Clippers, and I also played for Ty Lue. And it would be games where we would come in where we played, like complete c–p. And it’s ‘Alright, I see y’all tomorrow.’ It’s no urgency. And we look at how these Clippers teams have played out, and it’s getting worse and worse by the year,” he said.

And I loved Ty Lue. I think he’s an incredible X’s and O’s guy, but sometimes that…
Sometimes that laidback approach carries over into the team. And then you have a laid-back team.. And every time the game starts, every time it’s clutch moments in the game, they’re still laid back because that’s the identity you’ve created. That’s the standard you’ve created for your team.” Cousins further revealed.

Cousins used JJ Redick’s recent comments, where he said that he knew within two minutes after the tip-off that his team wasn’t playing up to the mark, as an example to point out what Tyronn Lue might be doing wrong. Although he did Ty Lue his flowers, he suggested that the former Cavaliers head coach needs to step up and hold his players accountable for their mistakes.

Well, the Clippers have clearly lacked that edge in their game this season and failed to perform at clutch moments. Their 120-119 loss against Miami earlier this season, where Kawhi Leonard missed a game-winning three-pointer, is a great example of the same. So, Tyronn Lue should have a more hands-on approach towards his players before it’s too late. Meanwhile, there’s a huge update on the Klaw’s injury.

Tyronn Lue confirms a disappointing Kawhi Leonard injury update

As if losing three straight games wasn’t enough to worry about for the LA Clippers, now they’ve been hit with an even more worrying update on Kawhi Leonard’s injury. The former NBA champion, who has been suffering from an ankle sprain and has missed three games, will remain sidelined for “the next few games,” according to head coach Tyronn Lue.

Although Lue did not get into much detail about the nature of the 34-year-old’s injury or the exact length of it, the signs are not good. More so, given Kawhi Leonard’s terrible injury record. Just last season, the Klaw suited up for only 37 regular-season games due to his knee injury. Now, after just playing six games, the veteran has been ruled out for the next few games.

While this is not a good sign for Leonard, it’s also not great for the Clippers, who have looked lost without him on the court. That’s because when on the court, Leonard has contributed massively for his team as he has been averaging 24.3 points, along with 5.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists. However, now without the picture, Tyronn Lue has had difficulty replacing him.

Even though James Harden and Ivica Zubac have stepped up in Leonard’s absence, they haven’t been able to lead the team to victories. Now, at 3-6, the Clippers are in dire need of wins. Otherwise, their season could start slipping away, something they would want to avoid at all costs. So, the next few games will be huge for the Clippers as they’ll try to get their season back on track.
