Despite a commendable 30-13 record, the moves come in light of what they anticipate could be a championship season. The franchise is yet to announce a successor. This leaves Assistant Coach Joe Prunty as the presumed frontrunner for the role. It will be the third name to command the Bucks’ ropes, after Mike Budenholzer and Griffin. Now, the Bucks are planning to introduce a new orchestrator, their third or possibly fourth head coach in a year.

Following a humbling defeat by the Miami Heat last year, the Bucks were sifting through certain coaching candidates. Stein suggests that, for the Bucks, “the desire to play for Griffin is better described as a determination to play for someone other than Nick Nurse.” This marks a significant deviation from the previous year, during which the Bucks were actively considering Nick Nurse for the coaching position. However, their former MVP Giannis opted to “champion Griffin” instead.
