This week has been great for all the sneakerheads. Nike announced the release of the 21st edition of King James’ basketball shoes. LeBron James signed with Nike at the beginning of his career two decades ago and has managed to build a successful sneaker line for the last 21 years. Entering his 21st season this year, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar will grace the NBA court in his new basketball shoes, LeBron 21. The Akron Hammer’s latest basketball shoes will retail at $200.
Amidst LeBron James announcing the release of LeBron 21, Nike also released the official shoe design of a young NBA superstar, who is finally making his sneaker debut after 8 years of hard work in the NBA. However, the 3-time All-Star’s tremendous achievement was overshadowed by King James’ big announcement.

Along with Nike announcing the release of the latest LeBron 21, the sneaker brand also released the official design of Phoenix Suns superstar Devin Booker’s first signature shoes. The 26-year-old’s first signature shoe, Nike Book 1, combines lifestyle with performance. The official design of the shoe was inspired by Booker’s favorite Nike shoes, including Air Force 1, Air Jordan 1, and Blazers. Nike Book 1 does not look like a typical basketball shoe and has a great design to rock off the court as well. “The goal was to create something that would be timeless.” said Booker. The shooting guard has also taken some inspiration from his love of restored vintage cars, “High-tech on the inside, classic on the outside.”

But the 3-time All-star’s big achievement was overshadowed by LeBron’s announcement. LeBron 21 will hit the shelves on September 28. The NBA legend’s 21st basketball shoes are modeled after the properties of an oyster shell, coming in a white and gold colorway. The design is inspired by King James’ 8-year-old daughter, Zhuri James.
Devin Booker joins elite company
Even though the release of the 4-time NBA Champion’s latest shoes stole the thunder of the Phoenix Suns superstar, this was a big moment for Devin Booker. The 26-year-old joined elite company by becoming the latest in a long line of NBA players to have his own signature shoe. Before him, NBA legends like LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant have all taken the sneaker world by storm with theirs.

With the way Devin Booker is playing for the Phoenix Suns, this partnership with Nike seems like it will go the distance. The 26-year-old is already a 3-time All-star and has led his team to an NBA final. Joining forces with Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, Booker is ready to take the next step and lift the Larry O’Brien trophy. Nike Book 1 is set to debut in 2024.
