The world of sports just received a shocking update. MLB legend Tim Wakefield passed away at the age of 57. Wakefield was diagnosed with and battling brain cancer that finally caught up to him. The entire Boston Red Sox fan base along with the rest of the MLB mourns his loss. And our prayers go out to his family and close relatives.

Tim Wakefield’s loss wasn’t limited to just the MLB or its fanbase. Golden State Warriors All-Star point guard Stephen Curry too mourned his loss with thousands of fans as he shared Wakefield’s demise on his social media.

Tim Wakefield played 19 seasons in the MLB and spent the majority of his season with the Boston Red Sox. An All-Star and a two-time World Series champion, Wakefield was beloved by many.

Including the Warriors’ star, Stephen Curry. Curry went on to his official Instagram to share a post on his IG stories. He shared a post by the official Boston Red Sox Instagram page about Wakefield’s demise.

Time Wakefield was a known philanthropist. He was one of the most charitable players in the MLB during his time. The Boston Red Sox even nominated him eight times for the Roberto Clemente Award. This award was given to the player that reflected it best as to giving back to the community.

The official X, formerly known as Twitter, Red Sox page also shared a heartwarming message as they broke the news of Wakefield’s untimely demise.

Wake embodied true goodness; a devoted husband, father, and teammate, beloved broadcaster, and the ultimate community leader. He gave so much to the game and all of Red Sox Nation. Our deepest love and thoughts are with Stacy, Trevor, Brianna, and the Wakefield family.”
