Team USA is ready for redemption. After their embarrassing performance in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, the Men’s National Team is preparing to send their best roster to the 2024 Paris Olympics. Team USA sent all the young upcoming stars to represent the country in last year’s World Cup. But they came nowhere close to winning the tournament and were humiliated by Canada in the Bronze Medal match. NBA legend Gilbert Arenas picked his Team USA roster for the Paris Olympics, starring LeBron James and Stephen Curry.

While Gil included the usual players one would expect, he completely snubbed players from the high-flying Los Angeles Clippers, much to his co-hosts’ surprise.

Gilbert Arenas and Co. discussed the probable Team USA roster for the Olympics later this year. The USA Basketball Men’s National Team will announce a pool of 30 players to pick from for the summer Olympics. However, the final team of 12 will be revealed after the NBA season is over. Arenas did not like the decision about a player pool and asked Team USA to send the 12 best players in the league. Arenas’ roster included LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Anthony Davis, Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Devin Booker and Tyrese Haliburton.

When Rashad McCants suggested Clippers guard James Harden in the roster, Arenas said, “I don’t need a Harden when I have a Tyrese (Haliburton).” Arenas snubbed Harden because he did not want another isolation player in an already stacked team. He would rather have Haliburton, who is leading the league in assists this season and will play more unselfish basketball with bigger stars. McCants pleaded Harden’s case, claiming that The Beard is playing in an Olympic-level team with the Clippers.

Arenas, however, snubbed all Clippers stars and kept Harden and Westbrook out of his Team USA roster.

Can Team USA redeem themselves this summer?

Team USA will compete in the Paris Olympics from July 26, after the NBA season is over. With most big superstars committing to the tournament, we will see a possible Dream Team forming for Team USA. Even Arenas asked Team USA to send the best of the lot, “12 best players like the Dream Team did, and then the Dream Team 2 did.” Team USA cannot afford to lose another tournament after their embarrassing loss in the FIBA World Cup.

Even the players would want to bring a Gold medal back to their country as this might be a few veteran superstars’ final Olympics. With LeBron James and Stephen Curry in the later stages of their careers, this might be their final chance to represent their country on a world level. All eyes will be on Team USA this summer as they try to redeem themselves after last year’s upset.
