The Golden State Warriors organization is showing faith and confidence in the core that built their dynasty. The first indication was when they preserved their core players – Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson despite a turbulent season for the latter two. They didn’t make any needles during the trade deadlines Then they recently signed head coach Steve Kerr to a historic deal that ties him with the organization till 2026.

They offered him a two-year $35 million deal, which Kerr happily accepted. He couldn’t contain his joy even at the mere mention of his contract. Moreover, he also offered to pay the Lester Quinones’ fine he suffered for his scuffle against the Charlotte Hornets just moments after the deal was put in front of him.

The extension made him the highest-paid coach in the NBA beating out Miami Heat’s Erik Spoelstra who signed a longer deal, eight years for $120 million. However, the purpose of the deal runs deeper than just a sign of respect and admiration for Kerr’s genius. It also aligns his timeline with the foundation’s essence – Stephen Curry.

But was it intentional?

Steve Kerr’s contract was intentionally kept parallel to that of Stephen Curry

During the recent ‘Come and Talk 2 Me’ show, Cam’Ron discussed Kerr’s historic extension. The deal keeps him with the Warriors for another two seasons until 2026. Coincidentally, Stephen Curry’s current contract also terminates in that same year. But the question is was this just a coincidence or a scheme devised by the franchise?

“Yeah, it’s definitely intentional,” claimed Ma$e. “I’m really interested in seeing what happens in 26. I don’t think any of that core is going to be there other than Steph. I wouldn’t be surprised if Steph plays with a whole new group of people,”

Cam’ron concurred. Before Ma$e’s breakdown, his co-host spoke about Kerr’s contract length and feels it is ultimately the timeline for the Warriors’ dynasty. Klay Thompson has moved to the bench, which increases the likelihood of him signing a less lucrative deal than what was anticipated. Draymond Green is also signed till the 2025-26 season with a player option for the following year.

It seems like that’s the realistic window the Warriors are eyeing to give their core that won them four championships in eight seasons. Stephen Curry will be 38 during the last year of his current contract. At that point, it doesn’t seem like the Chef would want to move. He is attached to the waters of the Bay and might retire as a Warrior.

However, he might be the only one walking in that jersey. Thompson and Kerr will be gone. The only possibility is that Green extends his stay with Curry for one more year. That could be the last of the Warriors dynasty. Do you think that’s the vision the franchise has in mind? If so will Curry continue playing for the Warriors under a different coach and younger teammates? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
